Agia Kyriaki (Borasani Mestit)
Information
It is on a byroad on Omirou street next to the walls. The church dates back to the second half of the 15th to early 16th century AD. The church is a singe-aisled, with a pointed arch. After the Ottoman siege of the city, the church was converted into a mesgid (small mosque), it was named Alagia Tekkia or Tecche, and later Borasani Mesgit. On the south-west corner a minaret was added. On the north of the church there is a single-floor building (mausoleum), where the tomb of Burazan Ali Baba, the arch-trumpeter of the sultan and conqueror of Rhodes Suleyman the Magnificent, is housed.
