Rhodian Peony (Paeonia Rhodia)

Information

    The Rhodian peoany is endemic to Rhodes, unquestionably one of the most impressive wildflowers on the island. It grows in abundance in the pine forests at the centre of the island, mainly on the mountain of Profitis Elias, the forest of Aghios Nektarios in the region of Archipolis and the area of Foundouklis. It is a herbaceous plant with a stem between thirty and sixty centimetres in length, with five white sepals and yellow stamens. Its flower is between five and eight centimetres in length and the plant is a protected species.
