Castle of Kremasti

Information

    The castle of Kremasti is on a hill 28 meters high from the centre of the Kremasti settlement, at a distance of 850 meters from the sea. Its outline has a rectangular shape with an actual surface of about 360 square meters, with a single entrance at the north wall. It was designed as a control position, in direct contact with the fortification of Filerimos. It was possibl built by Grand Master H. de Villeneuve in the 13th century, it was converted into a fortress by P. d’ Aubusson, and it was renovated by E. d’ Amboise. The existence of the castle is reported by many tourers in their writings. The coats of arms they describe cannot be traced today in the building complex of the castle, which is now half-demolished.
