Admiralty–knights Orthodox Bishop’s House

Information

All the architectural and morphological features date the building that dominates the north of Evraion Martyron Sq., to the late 15th, early 16th century.
The Greek ecclesiastical inscriptions on the façade and in the courtyard indicate that the building was in Greek hands. It has been suggested that it was in fact the residence of the Unitist Metropolitan of Rhodes. The traveller Rottiers, who was the first to describe and illustrate it in his lithographs, erroneously called it the “Admiralty”.
The building is under restoration by the Municipality of Rhodes, in order to host the state general archives.
