Venus temple

Information

The temple of Venus, dated in the 3rd century B.C., is situated in Symis square, near the Arsenal gate and the so-called “small port” or war port of ancient Rhodes (today’s Mandraki port). The worship of Venus near the ports was very common in antiquity.
Remnants of the temple, including architectural parts of the columns and the architrave, can be seen today, after the restoration that took place during the Italian occupation.
