Ancient Dockyards of Rhodes

Information

All five ports of ancient Rhodes were well fortified, following the ancient coastline and in a short distance from the sea. The mole of the windmills laid outside the wall, protecting the Great Port (the modern tourist and commercial port) from the east.

Ancient dockyards were found in Mandraki port, known as the ancient Small or War Port.

To the west side of the Great Port, the Arsenal Gate, surrounded by two square towers, two big in length and height, suggests the existence of dockyards inside the wall with ships getting in and out of the gate.
