Rhodian Orchid (Himantogtossum Comperianum)
Information
One of the rarest orchids in Europe, this flower is also known as Comperia Comperiana. A stalwart plant, with a stem up to seventy centimetres in length, a trilobed tip and with the central and side lobes ending in characteristic tendrils up to ten centimetres in length. The plant blooms in May. Last recorded and photographed on the island in 2006, in the forests of Mount Profitis Elias.
